PREAMBLE

IQRA ISLAMIC SCHOOL is a private run community school located in Zambia, Copperbelt Province in the city of  Ndola, Twapia Township along Ndola – Kitwe  dual carriage way. The community Twapia catchment is about 3.5 km from the Town Centre. With a fast growing population.   
   
PREMISES.
The school has fourteen (14) classrooms, a staff room, computer lab, science lab, tuck shop, mosque, and ablution blocks for boys and girls, staff toilets, kitchen, sick room and play ground (volleyball, football & basketball court) and at the moment we are constructing 3 x 1 classrooms which are on the s                                      lab level.

 CLASSES.
The school is run using the recommended Zambian syllabus with Islamic Religious Education (IRE) and Arabic inclusive. The class consists of three levels of education and these are nursery, primary and secondary levels.

RELIGION
All our pupils except few are Muslims. Members of the public are free to bring their children to learn at the school so long they can afford to pay school fees charged by management and obey the school rules.

MISSION STATEMENT
The school provides quality inclusive and relevant Education to all learners. It also endeavor to sensitize the community and all stake holders on Government and Board initiatives and promote mutual understanding amongst all, with a vision of achieving high pass percentage of our pupils.

To offer qualitative Education and achieve high pass percentage of the learners.

HISTORY.
The idea of coming up with an Islamic school was a long time dream which many people were just talking about but could not act  but, now it has come to reality (not a mere dream), especially for the Ndola community which had no such  kind of  a school, since time immemorial.  
The school was officially opened on 11th January, 2010 by the District Education Board Secretary for Ndola.
Among other officials invited was the area councilor Mr. Muyunda, RDC Chairman Mr. William Sasokoki, Sheikh Mohamed Idris, Sheikh Saddique Kaputula Mufti of Islamic Supreme Council of the Republic of Zambia, Mr. Abdi Abshir chairman of the Somali community and many other invited guests.

FUNDING.
·       The school finances are mostly often dependant on school fees and donations from well-wishers who helps and support the running of the school in paying off of staff and other bills.

·       The school also admits and supports orphans and vulnerable children OVCs to attain the millennium development goals MDGs by giving them free education. 






PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION.
The school has highly qualified personnel in their respective scope of work and Departmental Heads are well experienced in their professional qualifications.
2.    PUPILS PERFORMANCE
·       The school has always recorded very good results at various levels, e.g. at Grade 7, we have recorded 100% percent pass rate each year they have sat for the exams.
·       Grade 9 performance at final examinations has been very impressive.

Our pupils study Zambian syllabus which is as follows:-
(a) Curriculum for primary education:

4.    Social studies.
5.    Zambian language (Bemba).
6.    Creative and Technology studies.
7.    Home economics.
8.    Expressive Art.

(b) Junior secondary school curriculum.

 The school has the Examination of Zambia (ECZ) center code 050485 for the grade 7s.
The school has also applied to the Ministry of Education, for the Grade 9 center Registration and grade 12.

TRANSPORTATION
The school has three (3) buses which are used in carrying learners from their location to school and back home and one eight seater bus for the staff.
